Newbie: Can't get sound to work for SBlive

I have an external SBlive Mp3+ and can't get sound to work.. help?

is it plugged in?
did you compile your own kernel?
is sound support enabled?
do you have alsa?
did you run alsaconf?
did you search the forum?
etc...

No I don't have my own kernel

Yes I ran Alsa Conf (so yes I have alsa) but it didn't detect it


How would I check on the sound support thing?
