New smartd.conf in Slack 10.2

I see in the new /etc/smartd.conf.new file in Slack 10.2 that all the entries that were previously enabled have been commented out. Why was this done, and are there safety/security issues with running these tests? I really don't know anything about smartd, but on reading the man page it seems like a good idea to run the tests. I'm just a little hesitant about uncommenting all the things Pat decided to comment.

I have been using smartd for some time. And there are only a few lines in the default configuration that
I modify and use.

/dev/sda -d scsi -s L/../../2/18
/dev/sdb -d scsi -s L/../../4/18
/dev/sdc -d scsi -s L/../../6/18

You also may not need more than just a few lines.

What lines are recommended/needed? Why were there 10 or so uncommented in pre-10.1 and they all appear commented in 10.2?

The default smartd.conf is there to give you an idea of how to set your configuration.

If you know what it is you want done, there will be some clues in the default file that
should guide you in your configuration.

This looks to me like the perfect way to get an idea over to end users. Show what can be
done. And allow people to make a choice based on their requirements.

My guess is that few people configure this file exactly the same.
