New Nvidia drivers.
 

I just got the new nvidia drivers (1.0-3123) both the GLX and kernel .tar.gz, to upgrade my 1.0-2something drivers. I need the upgrade becaue some TwinView bugs that i experience should be fixed in this new release. Anyway to the point.
I untar.gzip both files, run make in kernel dir, load the module, run make in GLX dir, everything is done without any errors or warnings. Then i try to start X and i get about 50-75 unresolved symbols in NVdriver and of course X wont start. Then i dig out old drivers i was using before, do the installation the same way as i did for the new ones, and startx without problems and come here to complain.
Does anybody know why old nvidia drivers work fine (except the EXTREMELY annoying TwinView bug that freezes the system when X is shutting down) while the newest drivers give a load of unresolved symbols. I looked through the Xlog file and everything looks fine, new driver is recognized by X and loaded, as well as new GLX extension, and then it spits out bunch of unresolved symbols, and X refuses to start. Does anybody have a clue how to solve the unresolved symbols with the new NVidia drivers? I really need to change to the new ones becaue of aforementioned bug that plagues me.

I have no idea if this will help, and you probably already do it, but do you unload the old driver before installing and loading the new one?

Try running "depmod -ae" right after doing "make install" on the kernel package.

Ahh, depmod -ae how could i forget! I read it in some many other posts.
I did it, reinstalled the drivers and run depmod -ae and it works fine now, Im running the newest drivers and the nasty bug that was plagueing me seems to be gone.
