new mail notification with qmail

I recently installed qmail, and everything is working great. However, with sendmail I used to log in and it would tell me if I had mail waiting (it was using the /usr/spool/mail directory for incoming mail). qmail is sending mail to ~/Mailbox
short and skinny;
when I log in now, it doesn't tell me if I have new mail, and I don't get any notification if I'm logged in and new mail arrives. is there any way I can set it up so when I log in it looks for new mail on ~/Mailbox instead of /usr/spool/mail?

Thanks!

you can set a .qmail-username to deliver the mail for that user to /var/spool/mail

you could also just use a symlink between the two
