new kernel headers are needed when i want to use a kernel

I want to use new kernel for my slack. In slack headers of 2.4 kernel are installed. So do I have to uninstall 2.4 headers and put new headers of 2.6.20 in /usr/include/linux ? I want to also make my own packages for 2.6.20 kernel. Which headers do i have to copy with with which hierarchy?

you don't need to use the 2.6 headers unless you have something which specifically requires them... if you decide to use the 2.6 headers for whatever reason, use the version glibc was compiled against... in other words, stick with the headers provided by slackware...
