New install: Virtualbox run fails: Critical Error: Virtualbox COM object

I reinstalled slackware 14.2 last week. I've almost got it back to working order. I have successfully installed virtualbox, but when I run it I get a tiny box that appears on the screen with these contents:
Failed to create the VirtualBoxClient COM object.

The application will now terminate.

Callee RC: NS_BASE_STREAM_WOULD_BLOCK (0x80470007)
I read over a help page from Oracle, which didn't help. Can anyone here help me with this issue? I copied my VMs to another disc drive before I started my reinstall, so they should be fine, unless this turns out to be one of those things where I can't simply reinstall and expect my data to still be there. Thank you in advance to anyone who can offer anything that will lead to the successfully solving of this issue.

WORKSFORME - I opened it in the terminal I keep su - for root, and it opened. I remembered that I needed to fix the permissions. Now I just have to recreate the VMs. I don't know how to do that yet, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. Tomorrow. I'm tired of working on this today.
