Networking
Hello everyone, I need to know if Slackware has an easy way of taking down and bringing back up an interface. I know ifconfig eth0 down does this, but it does not contact the dhcp server to ask for a new IP. Is there anyway to restart networking without doing telinit 1 or rebooting? Do I have to write my own script or is there one included?
I would like the same functionality of winnt/2000 ipconfig. ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew That's really all I need. Thanks all. |
'/etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart'

Slackware does not have an /etc/rc.d/init.d directory or a network restart script. That is why I am asking this question.

slackware the network is handeled by '/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1' maybe you can just execute the script to renew |
