network manager on slack with fluxbox

I have never written before here couse i didnt have to, but now i have to...
I have problem with my new distro and fluxbox.

So I installed a slackware 13.37 with fluxbox, this is my first time with slack and fluxbox
I dont know how to install some netowrk manager and configure it in fluxbox
I need wifi :P

Have you got wicd installed?

Have a look in /etc/rc.d for rc.wicd

If its there, chmod +x it and start it.

If not install it from the /extras/ on the Slackware DVD / mirror.

If you did a full Slackware install, you should have the K Wirless Network Manager installed (I forget what it's called); it should run just find under Flux as long as the libraries are on the HDD.

But I second hyperhead; wicd is easily the best of the lot.

I installed a slapt-get, and it looks awesome
but i cant install WICD by slapt-get,

when I typed 'slapt-get install wicd'
- 'no such package: wicd'

i don't know what I exactly should do, it looks like a problem with repozitories but i dont know which add to slapt-get(and how)

i added extras to slack repo but i cant find wicd there

You shouldn't need to use slapt-get for this. Just get the package (which ends in ".txz") from the "extra" directory on any Slackware mirror (or your installation media) and install it with "installpkg filename", as root.

wicd is installed, but there is a new problem I have to install drivers to my wireless card (BCM43225)
How i should install these drivers and from

I downloaded some sta drivers from broadcom site but when i tried to install them there appeared an error

Its always helpful if you show errors you are getting.

that error was about it that packge hadnt been made by makepkg

While WICD works (sorta) I have recently ditched it for wpa_gui which is included in slackware stock. Briefly, wicd uses wpa_supplicant in it's own way while wpa_gui just configures wpa_supplicant without another layer running it. (wicd was causing my wireless to drop / reset every hour or so)

You can't just download any random tarball and expect to be able to install it with installpkg. installpkg and friends are for installing Slackware specific packages only. You might want to look at The Slack Book to learn a bit about Slackware (hopefully this is the latest version).

You may not need to download a driver for your device, but you'll probably need firmware. See the thread given in post 11 first and tell us if you have any more problems.

SlackBuilds.org gives some very good instructions on how to make a slackware package out of a tarball including what to do if you have downloaded a source that needs compiling.

Did you look at the link in post 11? Can you tell us specifically what you've tried and what you're having problems with?
