Network Manager & Slack 14.1 Question
Hey. Just a short one. Planning on installing Slack 14.1 tommorrow, and if i install it with KDE, will network manager and nm-applet be installed by default and functioning upon boot?
Thanks!

As you long as you select network manager to configure your network during install, then yes.
Note: It is not the default, so make sure you select it.

In a full installation, Network Manager is selected by default. At least, this is my experience with Salckware64-14.1.

The nm-applet will not activate unless you enable NetworkManager's daemon.

NetworkManager's daemon will be enabled if you select Network Manager as your networking option in the install script.

No it isn't. This sounded wrong, so I just checked. DHCP is default, see attached screenshot.

And nm-applet is a GTK application. For KDE, you have networkmanager which is a native KDE widget, and much better than nm-applet too.
You'll have to add the "Network Management" widget manually in KDE.
