Pretty much.

OK, since 70-persistent-net.rules is telling you that your wireless card is named wlan0, that's what you should be using instead of ath0.

So...

Code:
IFNAME[4]="wlan0"
USE_DHCP[4]="yes"
DHCP_HOSTNAME[4]="Slackware"
WLAN_ESSID[4]=MY SSID
WLAN_KEY[4]="mykey"
Note that your WEP key is supposed to be a bunch of hexidecimal digits (like "D5AD1F04ACF048EC2D0B1C80C7"). If it isn't, you may want to preface your WLAN_KEY[4] entry with "s:", like "s:mykey".

Also note that if you are using DHCP to get your address, you'll get your gateway too. So if you are using DHCP, you don't have to set anything in your GATEWAY variable.

There's some stuff about the length of the WEP key in Alien Bob's wiki that may also apply here. You'd have to look at the wireless access point's configuration to see what WEP key length you are using.
