Well, supposedly (if netconfig did things right) for
dhcp you'd be running dhcpcd from there (if you
didn't modify slacks default /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1).

I am just looking for possible causes, a defunct
daemon would be one of them :}

Check to see if these pkgs are inatalled: 'dhcp' and 'dhcpcd'.............They can be found in the '/slackware/n/' directory on the installation cd. :)

Alright. How do I check to see what packages are installed? I know how to check modules, but not packages........

You can run 'pkgtool' from a terminal window (need to be root). This is a curses app. From the menu highlight 'View' and <Enter> and it will generate a list of packages installed. Use the up/down arrows to scroll through the list. :)

ls /var/log/packages/dh*
