Net Problem
 

I installed Slack 10 and just unable to hook into the net. From all outward appearances (ipconfig / iwconfig / kwifi mgr / etc and dev .... it appears as though everything is working ...... I have a Netgear PCI card that is recognized (this is a desktop wireless setup) and a good signal/noise signal but unable to go out..... Any ideas would be helpful !! TIA, Emmett

Output of ifconfig and iwconfig ?

And are you using Static IP to connect to your wireless network or DHCP?

Using DHCP ...... and the output of ifconfig and iwconfig are almost identical. The output is exactly what I have seen these to be on other distributions. I am unable to use the Slackware machine so I can't really easily get it off that machine and bring it onto this one .... but the output is what I have seen on other configurations. The confusing thing is just that ....... everything seems to be just fine except I can not get out onto the network ...... Is there a way to see if Network or ETH0 or ETH1 is started ?? Emmett

Well, It would still help if you posted the outputs of both those commands.. ;)

Gonna go downstairs and work the other issue I am working on .... the installation of the extra packages and I will print them off and get them on here ......... thanks ......

Hmmm .... the bad news and the bad news. I got ifconfig and iwconfig on a shell but CUPS is not working. So unable to print it..... worked on that problem for a little bit , rebooted the machine , and things are now worse ..... prior to installing the wlan package ... the iwconfig showed a good system ... but after I installed wlan .... kwifi manager does not recognize my pci card..... the netgear ma311. Need to sleep on it maybe. I have no idea as to why ........... kwifi manager was receiving signal strenght / channel data / essid , etc and etc prior to installing the wlan package .... so why now does kwifi manager not even recognize the pci card ??? I would have printed all this out had cups worked .... will be working on cups first .......whew...
