Nero for linux just as root

I don't know if anybody install the nero for linux. I do. My problem is that Nero just recognize writer driver as root not as user.
I knows what kind of problems do that?

I use 2.4.29 kernel with scsi emulation. my writer drive hdd is sr0.

Try

chmod 666 /dev/sr0

as root and then see if Nero works as a normal user.

Just curious, what is the advantage of using Nero for Linux rather than K3b ?
What does it offer more ?

What if you don't have KDE installed? I'm a straight up GTK/Gnome user so that is the advantage of Nero over K3B for me.... ;)

No more problems with nero as user. I did:

chmod 777 /dev/sg0

and now nero recognize the cdwriter

You can try also xcdroast and graveman if you're looking for cdburning software using Gtk (I think graveman is more up-to-date).

You may find packages for them on: http://www.linuxpackages.net

Anyone noticed how CD/DVD-writers seems to be /dev/sr0 or /dev/sg0 these days? They were always /dev/scd0 back when I were a lad!

I recently had the problem with k3b; it couldn't use the CDRW unless you're root.. I noticed today that my everyday-user name was not in the cdrom group.. I edited /etc/group and added my username to cdrom group, now it works fine...

Reminder: Don't install your OS so quickly and carelessly... :)
