Need older current packages

Hello, I know it is a bit lame, but you know, if you don't have time, lame solution is just fine

So, the problem is, that I upgraded my X server today using slackpkg. And compiz stopped working for me. When I start it, whole X server crashes. I think it may be due to new current packages build without dbus support for X server...
From Slackware current changelog:

So I should have read the changelog before updating, but I did not

The easiest solution is, I think, use previous versions of
x/xorg-server-1.4-i486-4.tgz
x/xorg-server-xnest-1.4-i486-4.tgz
x/xorg-server-xvfb-1.4-i486-4.tgz

So I am asking you, if somebody does not have packages
x/xorg-server-1.4-i486-3.tgz
x/xorg-server-xnest-1.4-i486-3.tgz
x/xorg-server-xvfb-1.4-i486-3.tgz

or if you could give me some advice where could I find them, because google says nothing usable and ftp sites for current have only the -4 versions...

If that's true, you better report to PV that compiz is broken. Maybe he will include HAL support again and opt for the alternative solution of removing that problematic .fdi file from the HAL package.

Well, I would probably use the ones from 12.0 stable, although they are 1.3.0.0-2, not 1.4-2

edit: I found 1.4-2 packages in some zenwalk testing directory, well, actually, google did

If you have time, pdw_hu, could you explain why you don't like HAL suport in X server... just curious

I am running slackware-current with xorg-1.4 and have had no problems with compiz, either before or after upgrading to kernel-2.6.23.9 and glibc-2.7 from kernel-2.6.23.1 and glibc-2.5.

Did you also upgrade your kernel? If so, perhaps you need to check your graphics card settings. I know that with my nVidia 7300 graphics card, that I have to remake the kernel module whenever the kernel is updated.

I have not updated to new kernel and glibc yet. I'm still using 2.6.23.1 and glibc 2.5.

However, downgrading did not solve anything. When I used xorg-server-1.4-2 from zenwalk rep (with appropriate mesa, evdev and other packages), compiz did not work and when I reverted X server to stable, it did not start at all. So I've just installed the current 1.4-4 back to have X server running at least...

I have nvidia 6600, maybe I'll try to recompile kernel module to see if that helps...

edit: Recompiling nvidia kernel module helped. It works now. Thanks for the tip. I just somehow forgot that (probably) every X server update needs the graphic driver to be rebuild...

Argh, next time, I'll read changelog before updating :/

macbeth8, upgrade everything to current, because now you have a mix betwen stable and current, which doesn't work because there are a a lot of changes between these two versions. as allend said, compiz works in current, but it probably has some dependencies which you didn't download or maybe missed

As I've said in previous post, I've already done that and the problem has been solved. Recompilation of the nvidia kernel module helped.
