WELCOME to Slackware

It depends whether you want to install another linux, or another operating system.

If you want to install another linux take a note of your partitions by running "df" and take a note of the partition and the file mounted on it, ie /dev/hda1 /boot

You may not wish to destroy your /home directory.

Then just follow the installation instructions of your chosen distro and format the partitions. That will remove slackware and leave the partition available for your new files.

If you want to install another operating system, I'm afraid I cant help, as I have been 100% linux since win98 and am a bit out of touch.

If you want to install Windows XP, Slackware has fdisk (cfdisk also) which will enable you to format your disk
with ntfs (xp's filesystem). Otherwise, the previous poster's guidelines are correct.

Just put your OS cd-rom on the cd-reader and boot with it, and install the new OS. No rocket science needed
