1.I am going to have 2 OS-es-one Linux and one Windows, and I wanted to know which Windows version will work best with the Slack9.

Any, really. If you've got your choices, pick your favorite.

2.How many partitions do I need to make for Linux on my HD, and when is the best time to partition-during the install or before it??

You only have to make 1, 2 if you wanna do swap. Best time is probably before if you have the opportunity. If you've got a clean slate to play with, use it to your advantage to learn fdisk on the drive while it's still naked.

3.what is a swap partition, and if I need to creat it, how do I do it?

During the slack install, if you leave yourself a bit of free space it will do it for you. Or, if you'd like:
fdisk /dev/hda
Create a swap partition, make sure it's a linux swap ID (use the t for that). w to write the info to the disk then:
mkswap /dev/hdax where hdax is the partition that was created with fdisk;
swapon /dev/hdax
And the rest should be history... (during the install)

4.What do I need to change in just-installed Linux, and how?

Not sure I follow this one? Are you going for dual distro setup?

5.What do I start with: I meant how to make the work in Linux as easy as possible before I get used to it and start to uderstand it[as I am a complete )
Many Thanx in advance!

Well, most people seem to like to get X up and running first, that'll probably be your first hurdle. If you've got USB devices, that'll be second/maybe first...
Good Luck!
