Use iwconfig as specified here:
http://www.slackbook.org/html/networ...-wireless.html

Or just edit the network configuration as normal and place your additional wireless settings in rc.wireless.conf

A word of caution: ndiswrapper can sometimes destabilize your system. Use it only as a last resort when you cannot find any native Linux drivers for your wireless chipset.

You will need to run 'netconfig' or configure the '/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf' if your device is configured with the proper driver.

Once you have the configuration done with 'netconfig' or edit of the '/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf' then do a; '/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 restart'.

Hi,

Post the output of 'ifconfig -a' and 'route -n' along with your '/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf' file.

Madwifi is for an Atheros chipset based card. If your card has Atheros chip, ndiswrapper doesn't seem to work very well. I found that out recently myself. As the kernel wasn't even seeing the card at all I had to use the madwifi-hal package which worked like a charm.

Hi,

Do you want a static IP or to use dhcp? You have shown a static IP for [4] and also select a dhcp. Comment out the 'USE_DHCP[4]="yes"' with a #. Then provide the 'GATEWAY= "192.168.3.1"' if that is your gateway else place the correct IP.

In the future please post the information within vbcode tags (# or quote), makes things cleaner therefore easier to read.

BTW, you don't need to post the keys for your security, we don't need those. I would suggest that you change yours now that they are public.

The 'WLAN_ESSID[4]=(extended network name) : My Network, any' is not correct, place your essid name here; WLAN_ESSID[4]= "slackwireless".

Make sure that your '/etc/resolv.conf' file is setup for your DNS.
After changing the '/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf' file you can restart the inet with '/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 restart'.

Check your 'ifconfig -a' and your kernel route table (route -n).

You should ping your gateway IP, then ping outside the LAN with a known IP (google IP = 64.233.167.99) then ping google.com. If success with the IP then you know your setup is OK. If you fail with the name then the DNS is not setup (/etc/resolv.conf).

Hope everything is clear enough.

You are Welcome!

Everyone starts somewhere. I just try to help when the newbie is not familiar with the syntax or semantics. We all have different writing styles.

The quote is at the top of the reply window, a frame bubble with simulated text in it. It is to the left of the '#'.

The use of the vbcode tags will make it easier to read the post and to present important information/data.
