mysql.sock doesnt exist


i just installed mysql and when i try to run it i get this.

ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)

find / mysql.sock shows nothing either. what am i doing wrong here?

fixed it myself, sorry about the post.

chown -R mysql.mysql /var/lib/mysql

worked.
