MySQL Installation


Hi,

I've read Config post but still cannot get mySQL to work. Anyone who has some tricks please let me know. Thanks.

error: failed dependencies:
fileutils is needed by MySQL-4.0.2-2
sh-utils is needed by MySQL-4.0.2-2
/bin/sh is needed by MySQL-4.0.2-2
/usr/bin/perl is needed by MySQL-4.0.2-2
/bin/sh is needed by MySQL-client-4.0.2-2
/usr/bin/perl is needed by MySQL-client-4.0.2-2

This is what I got. What's wrong?

Are you using Slackware Linux or some Red-Hat based Linux distro. I would recommend install MySQL from a tarball binary (if you're not patient) or a tarball source package (if you are patient). This is if you're using Slackware that is.

BTW: I would recommend that you use the latest stable version from here. Don't bother with with Development version (4.02) yet, because it still in the process of development and hasn't been tested thoroughly enough.
