MySQL can't be launched in Slackware

Hi all
Why I can't connect to MySQL in Slackware? I've asked it to run everytime system boots, but it says me that it can't connect to the socket. I tryed to connect to MySQL in bash, without any result.
How can I run MySQL?

From the commandline: what command do you use to start and what errors do you get?

I used these commands:
mysql
mysqld
mysqladmin
and I recieve "can't connect to mysql at sock /usr/..."

Before you start mysql for the first time in slackware make sure you do:

su - mysql
mysql_install_db

To activate networking, eg if you use a java jdbc driver.

1. Edit /etc/rc.d/rc.mysql

2. Comment the line:
SKIP="--skip-networking"

3. Restart mysql and it should work.
