Simon is right, we need much more information before we can really help.
Off hand, I would check the permissions of the file /dev/hdc (assuming that's where the cdrom is located). Since its a writer, you'll probably want r/w access to it.
Make sure you're in the appropriate group (probably cdrom).
Is the drive specified in /etc/fstab?
How are you trying to mount it? Are you getting errors? is dmesg reporting anything?
