My NIC not showing up in slack 9

Dell Inspiron 8600

Cannot access the internet. I don't see my router assigning this pc an IP address.

Any thoughts?

Do you have any links lights on the hub/switch it is connected to?

Lights are on on the hub....I think it is an issue of slackware not seeing eth0 and I'm not sure where eth0 is housed

You might want to run lspci and see what the NIC is. Once you find the NIC and model try adding and alias to the NIC to its module.

For example, if it's a 3com NIC you can add a line to modules.conf that looks like this.

alias eth0 3c59x
