my network


i have an lan network and i cant see my friends computer
to share filies can any body help???

you need a service called Samba or SMB (server message block)

the configuration file is /etc/samba/smb.conf (there is an example in that directory, you can copy it and use it as a base, it is quite documented)

the startup script is /etc/rc.d/rc.samba

in order to work with Samba or any other network service, you need to make sure those machines are networked with some pings
