My mouse cursor is half gone and there is no toolbar in Slackware 13.1 with XFCE ?
Hello ,

I recently logged into my Slackware 13.1 account and when I issued the "startx" command , there was no toolbar at the bottom and I couldn't see my mouse. I was able to click on a short-cut on my desktop , and my mouse came back. I can't open any thing except VirtualBox. When I open it , the top is cut off , so the minimize , maximize and close buttons are cut-off . I really have no idea what to do.
P.S. I have XFCE instead of KDE

According to your previous post, you are using a Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop.
What graphics adapter do you have?
According to the Dell website, the Intel GMA950 is standard with the 256MB ATI MOBILITYTM RADEON x1400 and 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go7900 GS being options.
Please post the contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /etc/X11/xorg.conf (if you have one).

I can't open any thing except VirtualBox... a good guess would be that its something to do with Virtualbox... ! just a guess

Can you use Alt+F2 and then type terminal and press Enter? Does that open a terminal emulator window? If you can, we should be able to work out a way to get the requested files onto USB stick so you can transfer them to a working system and post them here.

Hey Guys,

I uninstalled Slackware 13.1 and put on Knoppix 6.2.

I would have kept Slack as that was a good opportunity to find out and improve your skills,I have taken months over some problems(6)... you,ll be back... !

ps Knoppix is a great system too. !

pps now when you get a flash of inspired thought you wont be able to check it out as you have wiped the slate clean.

ppps I hope a crummy post like this one wont affect my chances of ending up on a distinguished road... ! LOL
