my kernel compiling and lilo

My question ....(?)

root@coringa:/mnt/antonio# lilo
/proc/misc: No entry for device-mapper found
Is device-mapper driver missing from kernel?
Failure to communicate with kernel device-mapper driver.

Added Slackware12.1 *
Added Windows

My lilo ...

Well, reboot and see if the new kernel works. No need to worry about a little warning. : ) I'd however suggest you make the old kernel bootable in lilo as well in case there's a problem with the new one.

This is the device mapper it's looking for. I never had it and also get the warning all the time and don't even know exactly what it does but as everything works, why fix it?

You'll need it if you want to build TrueCrypt,
or use dm-crypt, software RAID or LVM.

device-mapper Wikipedia article

BTW this has nothing to do with lilo.conf.
It's an option you left out of the kernel config.

See this thread for more information, as well as the solution to making those warning messages disappear.
