Multiple processes, programs don't close?
 

After a while of using slackware, I goto the process viewer and notice that there is about 50 java running and 10 firefox running. Why is it doing this and how do I fix it?

Firefox is multi-threaded and it is normal for it to be running multiple copies of itself. As for the java process, not sure -- are you running any multi-process Java applications? Also, what state are these processes in, you really only have to worry if they're zombies or stuck in uninteruptable state (states Z and D).

I was running azureus (with multiple downloads going), so that explains it. Thanks, i didn't know it showed every process (I'm used to windows task manager which only shows processes, not theads)!
