Multiple processes open when java app is run

Hi,

I am not sure if this is the best place to post this, but here I go:

I am running a Slack 11.0 box, on my workstation (AMD2300+,1GB RAM) and I am developing a java application that runs on JBoss Server.

I have a big problem: when I start JBoss, if I run ps aux, I see many processes opened by java. They tend to grow in number as the application opens multiple connections to a queue. I guess it opens one process per connection until it finally throws an out of memory error.
Similarly, when I open Eclipse, I can also see many processes started by java.

What bugs me is that I am the only one receiving the error. The other people in my team that are running Fedora or Windows, don't have this problem. Running ps aux on a Fedora gives just 1 result.

Can anyone help me understand what's going on, and how/if I can fix this problem?

Thanks,
Cristi

What version of java you got and where did you get it ? Might wanna install the latest version if you haven't done so (if possible, of course).

java -version shows:

Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_09-b01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_09-b01, mixed mode, sharing)

I have this problem since forever. Now it's the only time that an out of memory error occured cos' it's something changed in the application.

Do you think this could be an operating system issue? (I;m saying this because other developers with Fedora don't have the problem)

Thanx

Can you try installing the latest version and see if it still does it ?
