Multimedia browser plugins

1 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I actually installed the packages mentioned in this blog post of AlienBob.

Obviously I installed some more multimedia browser plugins in the past and now my plugins configuration tab looks like in the picture below.

Attachment 7451

My questions now are:
How does Firefox decide which one of the multimedia plugins to take?
Which do interfere with others? Which one make sense and which not?
Or in other words, which one I should disable and which one I should uninstall?
Is it possible to define priorities for the plugins?

Thanks,

Firefox --> edit --> Preferences --> Applications

(adjust if you want)

You can install more plugins, players too

priorities.. RTFM (of FF)

gecko-mediaplayer *replaces* mplayerplugin so you don't need that anymore (or the VLC one for that matter). If you really want gxine to handle streams then leave it in there, but gecko-mediaplayer should handle it fine. To remove mplayerplugin just removepkg it. To remove the VLC plugin find out where it is located by looking under /var/log/packages/vlc* and remove the file.

Alternatively, you can just disable the ones in your FF profile that you don't want to use.
