So i have this concern about multilib now at startup. it seem to actually fix some of my issues with my system at startup (stupid mysql daemon message popping up after it's asking me to login which upset me) but now i have noticed almost everything running in /usr/lib and almost nothing using /usr/lib64 in particular i can only name off mysql which some reason I feel maybe it always used /usr/lib and i just never noticed. I just a little uncomfortable about this switch as it seems strange to me but I need it and just need to know. Am I still at all times taking advantage of the 64bit side of my system whenever possible still?

the above is my only true concern here and all I really care about, running my OS to it's fullest when possible.

Also it seems to me I have seen a slight decrease in performance after turning to multilib, is this normal? i mean it could be some other things affecting it maybe but I wanna know your opinion see if it's just me or something else or if this really does slow down your system.

So I've decided to go with a full out Slackware64 on my desktop and in a few months will put slackware64 on my laptop and use that as mutlilib but my desktop how crucial it is to keep speed on it I can't afford to loose performance cause of multilib just because I need skype for 2 weeks on it and then will never need it again -.- I hope at least. I will just use skype static and install 32bit binaries incase I need them for my graphics driver if it ask me too simple as that I guess. I thought I would need wine but I decided i won't need wine since ssh-ing into my linux box is working out just fine for me I don't need a text interface. I got a lot of work to do to keep files I've edited on my system that i want in my reinstall to stay

Why do you think you will lose performance by installing multilib packages? The 32-bit libraries will only be used if you run a 32-bit program (and that will typically be software which does not have any source code publicly available, such as Skype).
Slackware itself and all 3rd party programs which have been compiled from source and built as 64-bit binaries will not be affected by installing multilib packages on top.

idk the server seems to be running slower start up times for the server have at least slowed by 33% or so i mean I guess I can keep it and see where it goes but I"m just not sure. maybe I"ll keep it for a while and see where this goes more but idk it seems to me the server is being slower than ever now but i actually haven't tested it on the user side. also I feel like some reason my system is using alot more ram -.- and last night when i went to bed my computer was using close to 2gbs with my server running which seems 2x higher then it normally used to be and this morning it's almost using 4gb all my physical memory...Something is wrong

Strange.

I have a multilibs Slack too, and I do not notice any slowing down, or special RAM stress.

And like says AlienBob, the 32 libraries are used only when you need them.

Your problem is elsewhere.

Make a "top" in terminal to see what stresses your RAM.
