MTP kio-slave

My phone got an upgrade the other day and now I can no longer use my HTC One as a USB Mass storage device. I can put music on through Amarok but it's no use for other stuff like films.

MTP always crashes if I try and access the device through Dolphin, as it does through the command line.

I guess I have a couple of questions -

Has anyone here got MTP working with an Android phone? and

Do we have the kio-slave in Dolphin available yet (I'm using Bob's 4.9.4 set) and if so does it help at all?

I am in the same situation.
So far I've tried upgrading to the latest mtpfs but no luck.
It's not reading anything although it detects my tablet (Galaxy Tab 2).
Looks like we'll have to wait for new version of libmtp to fix this.

What a stupid move from Google, and their technical explanation is not good enough.
Breaking this kind of basic functionality is pure technical stupidity and incompetence.
Google is just as bad as Microsoft and Apple, maybe even worse.

I set up Arch to have a look at Gnome 3 - they offer a couple of work arounds - I'll see if anything helps there. Fundamentally the problem is Google, as you say.

AirDroid works well though and is an OK work around.

UPDATE - it doesn't work with my HTC One X. Amarok works fine for music files, so MTP presumably can be made to work in Linux. Happy Christmas to all.
