mplayerplug-in with current causes segmentation fault

After using current for a few days I finally have everything working the way I want it except for mplayerplug-in. As soon as I open a trailer or whatever firefox crashes with a seg fault. Has anyone else had a problem with mplayerplug-in with current? Also I have been using mplayerplug-in for a few years now but was wondering if there is any better program out there? I know there is the vlc moz plugin but I have never tried it, how does it compare?

Yup, had the same problem with 12.2; somebody suggested installing the Firefox mediaplayerconnectivity add-on (which will execute MPlayer) and, viola! no more crashes. I'll get roundtoit sometime and see if I can figure out why mplayerplug-in doesn't work properly but for now, the add-on seems to do the job.

Well after some researching I found out that mplayerplug-in is depreciated and has been superseded by gecko-mediaplayer. After I installed it nothing happened but then I realized that I need to also install gnome-mplayer, now all is well.
