Mplayer plugin crash
I've had quite a few embedded videos freeze up my pc to the point where I have to use the reset button.
Just wondered if anyone else has anything like this? Got latest mplayer plugin 3.17 and MPlayer 1.0pre7-3.3.6
Heres an example: http://www.weakgame.com/media_6607_A...ommercial.html

No problem other then the fact it's an wmv file playing.....
I'm rpm based but I have the same versions (basically) installed;
mplayer-1.0-0.20.pre7.2.fc4.x86_64.rpm
mplayer-codecs-20050412-1.i386.rpm
mplayer-codecs-extra-20050412-1.i386.rpm
mplayerplug-in-3.17-1.2.el4.rf.i386.rpm

Downloaded the file, tried to play and it seems to a problem with mplayer itself. PLays ok in xine and I seem to have had this problem since installing an audigy 4. So I've no idea what to do except take a chance on whether it will crash or not. Xine plugin doesnt seem to work at all.
Tried installing your 2 codec packs and any others I could find. Updated Alsa in case they have updated my module. Reinstalled mplayer. Nothing works.

Well I found a solution of sorts:
I found that I could play the file offline using the opengl driver, so I added vo=gl into ~/.mplayer/config and now it plays the video but in a separate window rather than embedded in the web page.
Seems xv driver is to blame so I will see about updating that, but at least it hasnt crashed yet (touch wood)

Try mplayerplug-in 3.21 and mplayer from CVS and see if you still have problems. mplayer 1.0pre7try2 is REALLY old and has alot of problems.

Thx that solved it although it refuses to compile with gui - says it needs libpng and libpng-devel but I have both

Add this line to your ./configure line:
Code:
--with-extraincdir=/usr/include/libpng12/

Configure now works thx, but make is stopping on error:
/usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so: undefined reference to `pango_font_get_font_map'
/usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so: undefined reference to `pango_fc_font_create_metrics_for_context'
/usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so: undefined reference to `pango_matrix_get_font_scale_factor'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [mplayer] Error 1
Maybe I need to update pango but I'm not really bothered about the gui really - I tend to use xine more and just want mplayer for firefox.
