I know that this is very late (and that both MPlayer and MPlayer2 have been superceded by mpv), but I just wrote an mplayer2 SlackBuild:

https://github.com/duganchen/my_slac...master/MPlayer

It checks out the latest MPlayer2 source and builds it into a drop-in replacement for Slackware's (or Alien Bob's) MPlayer package:

So:

Code:
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/duganchen/my_slackbuilds/master/MPlayer/MPlayer.SlackBuild
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/duganchen/my_slackbuilds/master/MPlayer/doinst.sh
chmod +x MPlayer.SlackBuild
su
./Mplayer.SlackBuild
upgradepkg /tmp/MPlayer-*.t?z
exit
There is no mencoder and no gui, because neither are part of MPlayer2. Mencoder was the reason for MPlayer's huge list of optional dependencies; the only optional dependencies for Mplayer2 are libvdpau and libdvdnav.

You need python3 and docutils to build it. Both are available from SlackBuilds.org. You need them to build mplayer2, not to run it, and you can delete both after the package is built.
