mpg321 problem in Slack 11

After sometime when I listen to music with mpg321 the music starts playing faster and faster, untill the tune finishes and mpg321 hangs up. Then i need to kill it ... anyone has a solution? It never happend on slack 10.2

mpg321 is working fine here on Slackware-10.2

i dont know if it has any bearing but i compiled a custom 2.4.33 kernel and alsa-1.0.12

no problems here either

(custom kernel, patched version
of mpg321 and alsa from source)

as a wild guess, it sounds like it
might be a software mixer at work

So, after installing slack I remove alsa, mpg321 and mpg123 with pgktool and install it from scratch and then compile the new kernel?
