Mozilla Mail

It is my first attempt with linux and up to this moment I managed (after one month and a half) to get connected to the internet! However: my Mozilla Mail (which came with the CD-ROM of Slackware 9.1) doesn't seem to work: I fed him all the infos about my POP, SMTP, etc. but the "download message" button keeps being inactive.

Some hint at least about how I could begin my troubleshooting?

I like Mozilla, but I prefer Thunderbird. I can't think what might be causing the problem but there are often problems with versions included with distros. I never use the version of Mozilla that comes on the Mandrake CD's as it's months out of date. Have you tried other Email clients? Do you have Kmail? Have you tried Downloading Thunderbird? http://texturizer.net/thunderbird/download.html . I assume you can get online with a browser and are just having trouble with your mail. Yes, I am online and my problems are just with mail. I will try. Does Kmail work in the GNOME environment? I assumed that the capital "K" stood for "KDE". Am I wrong?
