Moving Hard Drive from one to Another Machine

I seem to recall doing this fairly often with desktop machines.
I moved my hard drive from my T60p laptop to a T61 laptop.
Everything seems to work fine except of course the wifi.
T60p has an Intel, and the T61 has an Atheros.

The system sees this "new" Atheros chip as wlan1 (vs. wlan0 for the Intel)
I use wicd, and have configured wicd to see the "new" Atheros card.
wicd appears to connect just fine, but I cannot route packets!
netstat -rn shows that I have a gateway, but ping says network unknown. Firefox says server not found. I use no proxy or fancy routing. BTW - a native install of 14.2 on another hard drive works great on the T61, so the hardware is "known good".

Thanks for any thoughts on this. I am stumped.

When you moved the drive, you didn't wack /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules, so your system thinks the old card is still in place.
