mouse scroll issues

Hey all!

Since slackware 9.1, my middle mouse button/wheel has not quite been functioning. The button itself works but X Window doesn't seem to be able to detect the wheel movement. I've never quite gotten around to solving this but its starting to bug me. So, was just wondering if anyone else is having/had the same problem and knows how to solve it.

I've tried editing the xorg.conf file but it doesn't really specify anything except the "emulate 3 buttons" option which I don't think I need since I can use the third button and not the wheel. I'm kinda out of my wits to be honest.

Thanks!

hi,

i have this in my xorg.conf in the mouse section:

Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option " ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

to enable scrolling.

btw. just a tip : i 've seen this Q. many times before. if you do a forum-search on " scroll mouse " or smth. like that
you get a direct answer.
( saves much time )

I copied the XF86config file from SuSE to Mandrake to get rid of the 'virtual' settings.
The first is the mouse settings for my Logitec IFeel USB mouse from the SuSE config. The second is from the Mandrake config that I backed up. Maybe they can help as a model.

Section "InputDevice"
Driver "mouse"
Identifier "Mouse[1]"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice".
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "on"
Option "Name" "Autodetection"
Option "Protocol" "explorerps/2"
Option "Vendor" "Sysp"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"
EndSection
