Mouse click interval

Are you sure that the single click is regiostering as a double click? In KDE the default setting is "Single click to open files and folders" so actually the double click isn't much different from a double click as most things open with a single click. This is set in "System settings->Keyboard and Mouse->Mouse". The increase of the delay to 2 seconds you mention in that panel would make more consecutive single clicks be registered as double as the standard is 400Msec meaning after this delay the last click is not counted when looking for double clicks.

I'm sorry... I misspoke (or rather miss-wrote). What I meant sometimes, when I do a single click, it is taken as double clicks. It's not "always" but rather "many times". When this situation happens, for example if I want to close a window frame that was overlaid on another frame, I accidentally close both of them.... What seems to be the cause?

MMmm the same is happening to me now. I must have installed something that is causing every other click to be registered as a double click. Very annoying
any ideas on how I can find the culprit app? Below is all the running processes currently (while this is happening on my box)

what do you sepcify the mouse as when installing? usb or intellimouse? or should that not matter?
