one other thing I have done beofre on slack was to delete the mouse entries in your XF86Config and used "mouse" instead of "psaux" or vice versa...I forget.

There appears to be some confusion in this thread. ceh383 wants his mouse wheel button to behave as a double left click, while all the advice offered to him has been about how to get the wheel to work as a middle click button.

I personally would never want my wheel button to work as a double click in X Window because X Window is designed to use three buttons, and I wouldn't want to lose one of them or have to use three button emulation while a third button is available.

I don't know if there are any settings for X Window that would make it possible to change the middle button to work as a double left click, but I would kind of doubt it. However, I didn't catch what desktop/window manager ceh383 is using. Some window managers are highly configurable and it may be possible to make the middle button act like a double left click in the configuration of his window manager.

I don't quite understand your statement there, but 'confusion' seems to fit the issue. I just realized that I am not 'emulating 3 button' on my wheel mouse, and the wheel works, but the middle button click doesn't work. If I am reading your statement correctly, I think you are saying it's an either/or thing - Wheel or Double-Click.

In windows, my wheel is both a wheel and also a double-clickable button. In Linux it's just a wheel, the double click doesn't work.

Edit: Hmmm... but this interesting. Using the wheel button doesn't do anything on the desktop, such as 'shade' a window by clicking on the title bar, but in Mozilla, if I click on, say, the LinuxQuestions logo with the middle button, it opens up a new Mozilla window. If I left click on the logo it just sends the current open window to the LinuxQuestions home page.

Ok, I'm using Gnome 2.2.

In M$ Windows 9x, NT4, 2k, or XP I can set the "Wheel button" to do any one of several tasks. I prefer it to be a "Double click" I am wondering how I could set it up under Slackware 9 with Gnome 2.2 to act in a similar fashion.

Think of it this way, I threw the wheel mouse out the window, and now I have a three button mouse. Can I make the center button work like a double click? If so, how?
