I have a FireWire hard disk that I use for mass storage of media files. When I first installed Slack, it worked just fine through
Code:
mount /dev/sdb /mnt/firewire
A friend of mine suggested using "make menuconfig" to reconfigure the kernel to speed up Slack by removing unnecessary components.
Today I plugged the disk in and cannot for the life of me get it mounted and working. Everything I try returns "/dev/sdb is not a valid block device." Is there a certain component I need to enable in menuconfig to get FireWire working again? I enabled pretty much everything under IEEE1394, but maybe I'm missing something else? SCSI support perhaps?
Thanks.
