mount.cifs "Unable to apply new capability set." [-current Fri 20 Nov 2020]

Good day all.

After applying updates to 64-current for Friday, 20 Nov 2020, mounting cifs shares from a Win10 machine kept failing with "Unable to apply new capability set" no matter what I did for mount options.

Reverting from libcap-ng-0.8.1 to libcap-ng-0.8 remedied this for me.

Looking at differences in packages I have no real clue why. Anyone else run into this?

There is another thread about this:

There seem to be multiple problems with mounting CIFS shares in slackware-current at present, neither of which has yet been dealt with: .
