monitor displays random pixels on Xwindows exit
I'm having a bit of trouble with the setings for my monitor. I use integrated Nvidia video, and I have a Gateway VX700. Whenever I exit an Xwindows system, rather than displaying the prompt, the screen turns to a bunch of random pixels somewhat in lines- so I have to reboot. The only way I have ever gotten my monitor to work is to leave the monitor section in xorg.conf pretty much empty- no values for freq ranges, etc. I'm at work right now but its something like this:
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
Ive tried editing the ranges that xorgsetup gave, as I found settings for my monitor on the net, but I always get a freq out of range error in any case except leaving it blank as above.
Ive installed the latest Nvidia drivers.
Anyone have any idea how to go about fixing this?
