Mongodb - anyone managed to install under Slack13

Hi,

I'm trying to install mongodb (so called schema-less database). It requires libraries like libjs, libmozjs, spider-monkey and the like. I had an idea that installing xulrunner would provide most of that, but it doesn't do so in any nice way. Has anyone actually managed to install this yet ? I'm a bit scared to muck up my firefox/thunderbird/seamonkey system, which I suspect might easily happen if I tread wrong.

Why not start out with the static version ?
All dependencies are included ...

http://www.mongodb.org/display/DOCS/Downloads

http://downloads.mongodb.org/linux/m...atic-1.4.2.tgz

It goes something like this :
1) cd mongodb-linux-i686-static-1.4.2/bin/
2) su
3) ./mongod --help ( to see all options ).
3a) ./mongod
4) .. (New terminal session) : ./mongo
> help

..

Yeah - in the end I did download the static version. But I haven't had a chance to actually install yet. I have an irrational fear of running binaries that didn't come from Pat, Eric or Robby. My general rule is : everything else must get compiled from source. But after reading a recent article on these new schema-less databases, I felt motivated to try it out (mongo was the recommended choice). I may have to concede defeat here.

Well, not everything is compiled / recompiled.
( See <application>.Slackbuild ).

Two java examples : jre, ant : They are repacked from :
jre-6u16-linux-i586.bin / apache-ant.

And the 'Google-Chrome-browser' is repacked
from a Debian binary package !
