mondorescue package for Slackware 12+

I would like to know is there any mondorescue package(s) available for Slackware 12 upward?

mondorescue has been given headache recently as the old package(s) of mondorescue is no longer valid after I upgraded the system.

Please give me some advice if you have any.

Thanks.

It looks like you'll have to hand-roll the latest for your machine. Seems everyone is creating for Ubuntu and leaving the others in the wake......kind of like in Windows when your forced to upgrade.

Thanks,jtarin.

I am considering of migrating to centos now.At least, I have a better chance of getting the package without compiling the source on my own. I spent way toomuch time on error of compiling from source.

What version are you using? you should try joinging some of the mailing list and see if someone else has compiled a version that you could use. What medium are you storing to? Did you you know Partition Magic has a free backup/recovery application. I use it weekly to back up my entire Linux partion...it takes about 15 minutes. Not automated, but suits my purpose. I run it from a usb flash drive, that way I can take it with me and do backups anywhere.

I use slackware 12.2.However, it seems to me that no one is compiling the package for my distro's version.

If you don't have any reason not to upgrade to 13.0....I would recommend it. I have been running Slackware since version-6 and couldn't be happier with 13.0.

But my question is,how can you do the backup? I just want a solution which I can roll back to where I was before the system crash. That's the first thing. Another thing is, it seems to be doing a raid 1 in slackware is no easy task. My colleague sets up a RAID1 on CentOS in no time without any tweak on his system.

What I really want is a system which does not give me much burden on maintenance.

Thanks.

README_RAID.TXT is what you'd want to read (though that is for 13.1...12.2 has a similar file). If you want mondorescue on Slackware you're going to do a bit of compiling...most of the dependencies for mondorescue are not available from anywhere as far as I can tell. If someone is nice enough maybe they can write SlackBuilds for you, but more than likely you'd have to write them yourself (or try src2pkg). Of course you can always hop to another distro if that's what you want, but of course mondorescue *could* be made to run on Slackware.

The readme seems to be making for "Software RAID" as I am using RAID card now.As a result,I have no way to go.

By the way,it takes quite a lot of time on figuring out why the source not compiling and this and that.As a result,I go for partimage at last, although it cannot do the real-time backup. It's time-consuming to do the backup in manual way.

Thanks for your input.T3slider

Have you tried to convert the newer rpm packages with rpm2tgz?
