Modprobe problem on 2.6.1

Hi,

After updating my kernel to 2.6.1 version I am having this message in my log files:

request_module: failed /sbin/modprobe -- char-major-5-2. error = 256

What does it mean?

Thanks!

just a guess:

did you update your modutils to the new version needed for 2.6?

I'm getting the same thing...

I'm using Slackware 9.1 and I just recently re-built my kernel with PCMCIA services. Do you have pcmcia in your installation? I'm not certain that pcmcia is what is causing this, but I just started getting these messages recently, and I'm trying to figure out why. For the record, I'm using a VIA EPIA-M motherboard.

Does anyone know what 5-2 device is?
