Sorry If I came across as rude. What I intended was to point out that NetworkManager has some additional capability that wicd cannot duplicate. I have happily used wicd in the past and I miss the wicd-client CLI interface, which is far superior to the NetworkManager nmcli CLI interface.

I second Network Manager for my newly bought 3G GSM/WCDMA USB dongle which required practically 1 minute to set up with Slackware 14.0. Though I'm currently using the MobilePartner GUI for Linux which came with the device.
