my installation of the MLED seemed to go smoothly, and everything works well except one item: The XFCE desktop is not customized at all. It is the standard vanilla XFCE.
The MLED packages are all there, but there is no GUI customization.

Am I mistaken to have assumed MLED makes customizations to XFCE? Looking around on

there is actually no specific mention of XFCE being customized on the surface. So, is the end-user meant to make the customizations, such as the cairo dock and etc. as seen in the above webpage?

I also installed MLED. Once I added a second user, that user had the customized desktop.

Apparently I added a user account too early in the install process.

You seem to have found the answer by yourself. The user-settings-xfce package contains the default configuration for your user, e. g. stuff to be put in /etc/skel. So you have to install this package (and preferably all the others) before adding the user. If you can't do that, just manually put the stuff from /etc/skel/.config in your users' home directory.

And BTW, there's no Cairo Dock in MLED. This is Xfce's standard panel with some heavy tweaking and transparency enabled.

I keep forgetting that and create the user first, which doesn't bother me as I like vanilla xfce, but I have to admit I like it better with the MLED modifications and tweaks. :-)

Can't wait until MLWS is ready for 14.1. I'm running 14.1 RC3 on my laptop and like the way things are shaping up so far.

Still have 14 with MLED installed on my tower and it runs like a dream.

I recently "discovered" the look and feel of your MLED desktop and I wanted to have the same thing.

So I installed the XFCE customization packages already available in branch MLED-14.1-32bit and followed the instructions in your Xfce-HOWTO.

The result is very beautiful to me

Unfortunately I only barely had time to begin this one. I'm currently up to my neck in another Slackware-related project (to make a living): migrate the local radio station to Slackware.
