Question Missing icon for Chessx

Hi there,

I am using Slackware64 14.2. I did install everything (default) except for KDE, so I'm using Xfce as my desktop.

The problem that I have is that I did install Chessx from Slackbuild. Evrything went smooth without any problem and/or warning. However, I don't see the icon for the program. If I do alt-f2 (application finder) I am able to open the program, so in that sense everything is working fine. Also I can open it from the terminal, however it gave me the following information:
Code:
bash-4.3$ chessx
libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile
So my question is. What I am missing? Why the icon is not showing in the applications menu? How do I fix it? What should I read? ... you get the idea.

Thanks

Hi:

Chessx requires qt5--
-::-Most likely that's what your missing if you didn't install it before installing chessx:--::-

Hello and welcome to to this forum.

I don't know about the warning, but if the game works you could just ignore it.

To add the missing menu entry, kindly request the maintainer to install the needed stuff found in the source archive, i.e. from its root:
./unix/chessx.desktop
./data/images/chessx.png
This just needs a small modification of chessx.SlackBuild

I never noticed the icon error since I launch stuff with dmenu, but it will be fixed for the next update of SBo (ponce has patched the SlackBuild for me already).

I believe it's caused by an issue with a PNG file in ChessX, but you can pretty much ignore it (some more info here).

Menu entry/icon is now fixed on SBo.
