Missing a couple of font directories

I'm running slackware 13.37 and when looking through the x.org log I see that two directories are missing:
Information [ 68.572] (WW) The directory "/usr/share/fonts/local" does not exist.
Information [ 68.572] Entry deleted from font path.
Information [ 68.572] (WW) The directory "/usr/share/fonts/CID" does not exist.
Information [ 68.572] Entry deleted from font path.

Anyone have an idea if this should be fixed? Is it normal, etc. It's just warnings and doesn't seem to effect anything, but when I was hunting an answer the X.Org wiki said this:

http://www.x.org/wiki/FAQErrorMessages
---------------------------------------------------------
Please also check for messages like:

(WW) `fonts.dir' not found (or not valid) in "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/local/"\
.
Entry deleted from font path.
(Run 'mkfontdir' on "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/local/").
...
Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/, removing from\
list!

These tell you that the fonts were probably not installed correctly.

I have been ignoring these warnings for years and so far the sky has not fallen in, the ground dropped away nor have I been unable to read something due to lack of fonts.

They arise from upstream defaults that are not used by default in Slackware. There is no harm and are not worth fixing.

I see those warnings in 13.1 but not in 12.2. I'm using the same xorg.conf in both systems. Those search paths are not in any /etc/fonts files. My guess then is those search paths are hard-coded in the more recent versions of X.

Out of curiosity I performed the following as root:

mkdir /usr/share/font/local
cd /usr/share/font/local
mkfontdir

mkdir /usr/share/font/CID
cd /usr/share/font/CID
mkfontdir

I then started X in another console. The warning messages disappeared. If the warning messages bother you then you could do the same.
