Some time ago I found an unexpected feature of slackpkg/slackpkg+. The ability to work on repository names. With the new setup, the user will be able to do the following.

Install all desktop dependencies for MLED (KDE or Xfce):

Code:
# slackpkg install desktop-base
Install KDE-specific packages:

Code:
# slackpkg install desktop-kde
Install Xfce-specific packages:

Code:
# slackpkg install desktop-xfce
Search for extra applications:

Code:
# slackpkg search desktop-extra
I've been experimenting extensively with this for the last few days. Package management is now as easy as "yum groupinstall" on RHEL or tasksel install on Debian.

I've looked at the current status of your new repositories. I understand that the uploads are not yet completed but I noticed that openshot (video editor) is part of desktop-xfce. I would have expected that application to be common to both the KDE and XFCE editions and so that it would be in desktop-base.

Are you planning to include kdenlive as the video editor of the KDE edition?

Initially I wanted to include Openshot on both the KDE and the Xfce version. But then I had a discussion with a friend, who works in a documentary video production team. He usually works with professional software, but he's also a fan of free software, and he got to test the major video editors of the Linux world. He assured me that Kdenlive was the best of the breed application of the Linux world. So I simply took his word for it, and Kdenlive will be added to the repo sometime next week.

I've started to dabble in video editing and openshot was simple enough to get some quick results. But I'd be pleased to test your kdenlive package. Thanks for making it available.
